Lock Your Keys Away When You Go Out

My husband and I are on our second car, which is a Ford Explorer. At first I was a little annoyed that the key for that particular model of Ford was not easily available, as I knew we would need to carry our keys everywhere we went.

But as time went by, and we also purchased Vehicle Safety Locks and My Keys Safe, it made me a little more comfortable with locked keys in car near me. In fact, we have one key for our Ford and one for our daughter's Honda, so that if there is a car accident we can open our Ford door quickly without having to go through the trouble of pulling the keys out of the ignition.

And yes, if we have to be driving somewhere during the night, we can still unlock our doors. However, there are times when we will want to get into our car late at night after having a few drinks, so that we can get home safely. It just makes sense to think ahead.

When we are traveling, we don't always know where we are going, but we have a general idea of where we are stopping to take our car. But how much easier will it be to check our keys in a car we just met, or a car we aren't familiar with? We want to be sure we will be able to quickly unlock the door and drive away.

There are a number of manufacturers who now sell lockable versions of their cars. Most dealerships are selling the vehicles with keys you can lock up yourself, which is a smart idea since you won't need a key to open the door if you are trying to get inside the car with a friend or loved one. For more security, you can purchase a lock that will prevent someone from breaking into your car if they somehow manage to get into your garage and get the lock open.

All of these models of key are made by high-quality manufacturers, so you can be sure they will be secure. If we decided to go out of town and we really needed to use our car for a night, we would want to know we could unlock it, instead of being concerned we could get into our car with someone we didn't know. All of these systems will lock the car completely and have a combination for you to remember.

A good idea would be to put a padlock on your garage door so that you can immediately lock it up when you leave your house. By locking up the garage, you also ensure that you won't forget about your keys if you get lost while they are in your car.

In fact, when you go out of town to see someone, be sure to keep a spare key in your car. You never know when you might get locked out, or when you will want to get into your car for any reason. If you take the extra step and have a key in your car, you won't have to worry about losing it and having to call a locksmith to unlock your car.
